Presentation is everything

“Presentation is everything”, just remember those words.
I am a firm believer, in “you are who you attract”, so if you want to attract a certain brand of people, be the brand you want to attract.
When showing horses for sale or for competition we try to always have them brushed, bathed, and shined up. Your eye is always attracted to the shiniest horse in the ring. It’s hard to spruce up a common sorrel, but it can be done, and when done correctly it’s so breathtaking!
This stems to keeping your stuff tidy. Seriously, have an order in your tack room/ trailer and follow it. You can waste so much time by digging for something.
This is one form of presentation, and I believe whether you are a 1D or 5D rider, it will benefit you to use this thought process.
Myself, personally, I like my things to be clean, in order, and my horses brushed up/bathed and their manes braided. Bridle paths trimmed, beards trimmed, and give them as much “curb” appeal as possible.
Now for the other form, (reality stick), when you follow a trainer on Facebook, myself included we are going to showcase our best product. Because that is a valid sales tactic. And at the end of the day, you still need to know what I am capable of producing.
BUT for the struggling Barrel Racer these words are for you (again 1D or 5D or anywhere in between), the current struggle you are about to endure, happens to everyone, maybe not the same circumstances, but it still HAPPENS. There is no way in gods green earth I will put a video up of a colt ducking a barrel, or bucking me off and me sailing not so graciously through the air above their ears. But I’m also not about to lie to you and say it never happens! Of course it does, it happens to everyone.
Remember when your watching someone winning, or someone who always makes it look so easy. Those people have struggles too, they have just mastered the art of presenting the best of their capabilities.
Every person has a different journey to their final destination. And that’s what makes this sport, and life so challenging. What works for one may not work for you. The bottom line is that the results speak. Find a way that works for you, to get you to achieve the results you desire. Then learn how to make that happen on the regular.
